Weddings at Bethesda Terrace and Fountain

Bethesda Terrace is located in the middle of the park at 72nd Street and is the heart of Central Park. Bethesda Fountain is the focal point of the Terrace, with a large circular pool surrounding the Fountain. The statue in the Fountain faces the Terrace itself, which includes a tunnel under the road with majestic stairs on each side. The Terrace literally goes over and through the hill, blending seamlessly into the surrounding landscape.

Nature first, second, and third — architecture after awhile.
— Calvert Vaux, co-designer of Central Park

The ornate area under Bethesda Terrace is frequently filled with acoustic musicians and singers. The arches and tiled ceilings make this a great spot for a wedding ceremony. Other spots for wedding ceremonies include the lakefront (North side of the Fountain), on the stairs, and right in the open area between the Terrace and the Fountain. This area is typically the most crowded spot in the park, and many times you will see numerous bridal portraits taking place simultaneously.
