Weddings at Gapstow Bridge
Gapstow Bridge is a stone bridge spanning The Pond, geographically located at 62nd Street. It was built as a replacement for the original wooden bridge at the same site. Walking across the bridge, the side walls start out being about two feet tall, steadily rising up to be about four feet high in the center. These high walls may slightly impede the view during a ceremony on the bridge. Another option for a ceremony at this location is the area just north of the bridge, which is a private area at the top of The Pond — note that you will be descending a slight hill there which is partly dirt covered.
Portraits are great on the bridge itself, where the Plaza Hotel and the skyline of Central Park South serves as a beautiful backdrop against The Pond. Another spot is shooting toward the bridge from the south, with the bridge and The Pond as a backdrop.
